The African Children’s Choir of Uganda will be heading to the Sunshine Coast this 2013.
The members of the choir are made up of vulnerable and orphaned kids from the disadvantaged Ugandan areas of Kampala and Luwero. Thanks to the initiative of KwaYa Australia Inc in providing opportunities for local communities to engage in a cultural exchange, the African Children’s Choir will be touring the country to raise people’s awareness for the destitute children of Africa as well as to raise funds for its programs.
All 18 children and 8 adults of the African Children’s Choir will be spending seven nights on the Sunshine Coast.
Residents will have a unique cultural opportunity to meet and interact with the choir on a personal level.
The African Children’s Choir annually recruits two new choirs to tour North America and Europe to help raise funds for children’s education. Their excellent musical vibrancy and dancing abilities have allowed them to capture the world’s imagination. They have sung for the Queen’s Jubilee, performed for Nobel Prize winners, US Presidents and went on the stages of the London Palladium and Carnegie Hall.
The African Children’s Choir’s fundraising efforts allowed them to be educated to university level and return to the African community as doctors and lawyers.
They will be performing at the Sunday Morning Service at Noosa Christian Outreach Church, Noosaville, QLD on September 1, 2013. The event is a short drive from our Coolum Beach Resort Holiday Apartments.
